Crawford Gateway

Crawford Gateway

This is a picture I took today of the Crawford Gateway.

The gateway, which is where the railroad tracks go on the right was cut into the rock when the original tracks were put down. It was cut through the rock using hand tools. On the left you can see U.S. 302 which was blasted through the rocks, much later.

The tracks are in use today by the Conway Scenic Railroad, though they are rusted from non-use over the winter. I expect they will be inspected and operational by the summer.
